Our commitment

The West African Center for Innovation and Development (WACID) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. Accessibility and inclusion are part of how we work, and we apply the same principles to our own website. We are continually working to improve the experience for every visitor and to apply the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor and cognitive differences. We treat WCAG 2.1 AA as our target and review the site against it as we develop it.

Measures we take

To support accessibility, we:

• build the site using semantic, standards-based HTML;
• design for keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to content” link;
• aim for sufficient colour contrast between text and background;
• provide text alternatives for meaningful images;
• label form fields and provide clear, inline error messages;
• respect the operating-system “reduced motion” setting;
• use a responsive layout that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels.

Accessibility features

• Keyboard support — all interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
• Skip link — a “Skip to content” link appears when you start tabbing.
• Reduced motion — animations are minimised when your device requests reduced motion.
• Scalable text — content remains usable when you increase browser zoom or text size.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known areas we are working to improve include third-party logos and embedded media, and any content that is updated frequently. If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please let us know so we can address it.

Compatibility

This website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) and with common assistive technologies, including screen readers. It may not perform as well on outdated browsers.
